England head coach Thomas Tuchel has announced the inclusion of young Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha in the team's preparations for the upcoming friendlies ahead of the World Cup. While Ngumoha will not be a member of the official World Cup squad, he is set to join the group of players training for the preparatory matches. The young talent will be joined by a group of players including Bournemouth's Alex Scott, Jason Steele, Josh King, and an additional unnamed player. This announcement comes amid public scrutiny and questions regarding Tuchel’s selection process, particularly following the exclusion of notable players such as Harry Maguire, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer.
Addressing these concerns, Tuchel defended the integrity of his squad, emphasizing that the current roster consists of 26 fully committed players. "I can assure every fan in the country that we have 26 100% committed players in camp with us, who know their role, who are ready to buy into their role on and off the pitch, and who are ready and committed to the idea of team spirit and being unselfish," Tuchel stated.
