Everton FC’s Hill Dickinson Stadium has claimed the prestigious Project of the Year award at TheStadiumBusiness Design and Development Awards, surpassing notable venues including Fulham’s Riverside Stand, Sevilla’s La Cartuja, and arenas in Sweden, Hong Kong, Japan, and Morocco.
Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium has secured the prestigious Project of the Year Award at the Stadium Business Design and Development Awards. The 53,000-seat facility, located at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool, has quickly become recognized as a leading sports venue since its opening earlier this year. The project beat out several prominent international competitors, including Fulham's Riverside Stand, Sevilla's Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and various arenas across Sweden, Hong Kong, Japan, and Morocco. Designed by American architect Dan Meis with a budget of approximately 750 million pounds, the stadium incorporates modern innovation while maintaining a connection to Everton’s history.
Features include a glass wall in the South Stand that offers direct views of the surrounding water, and the venue aims to move away from flashy elements to capture a distinct identity rooted in the character of authentic English football.
Alex Waldron, Everton's director of new stadium development, noted that the award reflects the work of the team involved in the project. “The award is evidence of Hill Dickinson's world-class status,” said Waldron, who expressed gratitude to all those involved in creating a venue that Evertonians can be proud to call home.
Beyond football, the stadium has already hosted international rugby league matches and is slated to stage next year's Magic Weekend. The venue's versatility has also drawn significant interest, including a nomination to host fixtures during the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup. Through its blend of design, historical context, and multifunctional capabilities, Hill Dickinson Stadium has established itself as a landmark project for both the club and the city of Liverpool.
