Everton FC welcomed representatives of the Hillsborough families and members of Liverpool FC to Hill Dickinson Stadium to pay tribute to the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster.
Everton Football Club recently hosted a poignant memorial at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to honor the 97 football supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster. The tribute brought together the Hillsborough families and members of the Liverpool community, signaling a moment of shared grief and unity between the two clubs. To mark the occasion, Everton unveiled a permanent memorial at the stadium. Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear participated in the ceremony alongside family representatives, including Margaret Aspinall, Sue Roberts, Charlotte Hennessy, and Stephen Kelly, all of whom placed wreaths at the site.
Representatives from Liverpool, including Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush, also offered floral tributes in the company of club officials, such as Billy Hogan. Additional figures, including Graham Sharp, and ambassadors Ian Snodin and Graham Stewart, paid their respects. Steve Rotheram, who was recognized for his contributions to the Hillsborough Independent Panel, also offered a civic representation. The event underscored the unity that can arise in times of remembrance, even between two clubs defined by a long-standing rivalry. By coming together, the organizations and the community demonstrated a collective commitment to honoring those affected by the tragedy.
