A new tourism campaign is encouraging families to consider the Liverpool City Region for a summer break, highlighting affordable attractions, free museums, coastal experiences and seasonal savings designed to help holiday budgets go further.
The Liverpool City Region is launching a new campaign, "The Summer Starts Here," to promote the area as a top destination for family holidays. Developed by the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, this initiative seeks to showcase the region’s diverse attractions, dining, and leisure businesses, demonstrating that high-quality vacations remain accessible to budget-conscious households. The campaign emphasizes the region's wide range of experiences, from its historic waterfront and internationally recognized musical heritage to its beaches, nature reserves, museums, and various family attractions.
The Liverpool City Region already maintains a reputation as one of the most affordable places in the UK for a short family break. It is home to more free museums and galleries than any other UK city outside of London, allowing families to enjoy their time without exceeding their budgets. This campaign aligns with the UK government's summer support package, which includes a temporary reduction in VAT for eligible family attractions and children's meals until September 1st. Additionally, throughout August, children aged five to 15 will be eligible for free bus travel.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, noted that the core aim of the campaign is to reassure families that they do not need to choose between affordability and quality. By highlighting family-friendly itineraries and seasonal offers across Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral, the initiative encourages visitors to explore the variety the region has to offer during the school holidays.
