While some look toward the future with optimism, others remain critical of political leadership. One resident noted that while the government made initial mistakes, there was also a learning curve involved with managing the unprecedented situation. He expressed hope that future responses would reflect a better understanding of how to protect the public. For this resident, the pandemic personally meant three years of being housebound while caring for his wife, who had fallen ill.
