Liverpool John Lennon Airport has been named a Which? Recommended Provider for the fifth consecutive year, ranking second overall in the latest passenger survey.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport has received a strong endorsement from passengers in the latest Which? airport survey. The assessment, based on the experiences of nearly 6,000 passengers over the past 12 months, evaluated 27 airports and terminals across the UK. Passengers were asked to rate eight specific areas of their airport experience, including customer service, check-in, security queues, cleanliness, baggage wait times, availability of seating, and food and beverage offerings.
In the final standings, Liverpool John Lennon Airport secured the second-place position overall, trailing only Exeter Airport. This performance makes it the highest-ranking large airport in the survey, and for the fifth consecutive year, the airport was named a "recommended provider" by Which?.
Robin Tudor, representing Liverpool John Lennon Airport, credited the achievement to significant recent investments in facilities. "We spent a lot of time over the last two to three years spending quite a bit of money, investing in new facilities, so whether it's new bars and new food areas, and we've got a new lounge that went in that opened just last October," Tudor said.
Passengers provided a customer score of 78% for Liverpool, which also earned five-star ratings for cleanliness and both check-in and security queues. These positive results come as passenger numbers at the airport continue to rise, with an increasing number of travelers from across the North West and North Wales choosing to fly from Liverpool.
Tudor noted that the airport has implemented changes to streamline the travel process for passengers, particularly through security. "You no longer have to take your laptops out of your bag. You can leave everything in your bag, you can leave all your liquids in your toilet bags and things like that," he explained, noting that the removal of these requirements has made the process "a lot easier for passengers."
The airport plays a significant role in the local economy and connectivity of the region. Currently, Liverpool City Council remains a minority shareholder in the airport, holding a 5.8% stake following adjustments to the airport's ownership structure in 2025. The majority owner, holding 94.2% of the business, is the investment firm, Ancala. Looking ahead, the airport continues to prioritize its strategic importance to the city region's economy and future growth.
