The same resident pointed out that many of these initiatives involve shared ownership, where the occupant only owns a portion of the property, with an outside party holding the remainder. "It's just a big con as far as I'm concerned," she stated, noting that the rising costs of the remaining share make full ownership an elusive goal for many.
Concerns were also raised about the transparency and reliability of local government commitments. Some residents noted a history of unfulfilled promises, where projects are initially announced with enthusiasm, only to be abandoned or significantly delayed. One community member shared that he remains wary of government-led developments, citing a pattern where initial plans are often sidelined. He voiced concern over how such developments might impact local neighborhoods and expressed apprehension regarding the vetting of potential residents, stating that he preferred to see development handled through different channels.
Despite these concerns, there is an underlying hope that the government will be held accountable and that any new housing projects will truly serve the needs of the people they are intended for. Residents are calling for clearer communication, better planning, and a more genuine commitment to creating housing that remains truly affordable and beneficial to the community in the long term.
