Merseyside Police are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered inside a black bin bag at Stanley Park in Anfield on Friday, August 28th. Authorities were alerted to the scene by a member of the public at approximately 5:25 p.m. that evening. The victim was located in an area near the park's walled garden. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday, August 29th; however, detectives are withholding the specific findings while the investigation remains active and forensic inquiries continue.
Investigators believe the body may have been at the location for several weeks before it was found. Police have searched through missing person reports across Merseyside and beyond, but they have not yet been able to identify the woman or locate any next of kin. Based on their initial assessment, authorities describe the victim as a white woman in her 70s, of small build, with strawberry blonde hair. At the time of the discovery, she was wearing a pink Nike T-shirt.
Officials have released an image of a similar shirt to aid in her identification. Police are urging anyone who recognizes this description to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who visited the park's walled garden in recent weeks, including walkers and those who frequent the area with dogs. They are also requesting that anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage contact them. Acknowledging the distressing nature of this discovery for the local community, the police have issued a reassurance that they are doing everything in their power to identify the victim and determine those responsible for her death.
