Twelve people have been prosecuted for littering in Liverpool, after failing to resolve fixed penalty notices issued by enforcement officers.
None attended court, with the cases leaving those prosecuted to pay nearly five thousand pounds between them. The action comes as the government moves to increase maximum fines for littering and fly tipping.
