From Merseyside to Newcastle, to Barcelona.

From Everton to Barcelona: Anthony Gordon Set for Newcastle ExitMore Videos

Newcastle United star and former Everton player Anthony Gordon is set to travel to Barcelona to undergo a medical evaluation. This move follows an agreement between Newcastle United and the Spanish football club, with the transfer deal valued at around £70 million for the English winger. The high-value transaction marks a significant moment for Newcastle United, positioning Gordon as the club's second-most expensive departure in history, falling just behind the £125 million sale of Alexander Isak last summer. Barcelona moved quickly to secure the 25-year-old’s signature following his impressive recent campaign, during which he served as Newcastle’s top scorer, contributing 17 goals across all competitions.

Although Gordon signed a long-term contract extension at St James' Park in October 2024, his absence from the starting lineup in Newcastle's last four matches has prompted speculation regarding his future with the club. He still has four years remaining on his current contract. Everton is also expected to benefit financially from this transfer. The Merseyside club successfully negotiated a 15% sell-on clause when Gordon joined Newcastle in 2023, as part of a deal worth up to £45 million. With additional bonuses and add-ons, Everton could receive up to £10 million from the total transfer.
