Prime Minister Andy Burnham has offered fresh hope that plans to dual the A1 in Northumberland could be revisited, after saying the Government will explore a different way to deliver the long promised scheme.
The comments came after North Northumberland MP David Smith urged ministers to work with North East leaders on a project supporters say is vital for safer, more reliable journeys.
